The Clerk

The Secretariat of the Rodrigues Regional Assembly is headed by the Clerk of the Regional Assembly, the chief administrative officer who works under the authority of the Chairperson. Beyond supporting the Chairperson and Members in their parliamentary duties, the Clerk plays a key role in upholding transparency, accountability, and the integrity of Assembly proceedings.

With her expert knowledge of parliamentary procedures and practice, the Clerk:

  • • Guides the Chairperson and Members to ensure debates and decisions follow established rules;
  • • Safeguards all official documents and records of the Assembly, ensuring the preservation of Rodrigues’ parliamentary history;
  • • Prepares and circulates the Order Paper, helping both Members and the public stay informed about upcoming business;
  • • Provides impartial advice and support so that the Assembly functions efficiently and fairly.

The Clerk sits at the Table during sittings to assist proceedings and is supported by the Deputy Clerk, together ensuring that the work of the Assembly is carried out with professionalism, efficiency, and in service of the Rodrigues community.
